It’s very healthy but it’s not a magic potion. It strengthens your immune system, it has high levels of antioxidants and some studies have shown it to slightly increase your metabolism. However, other studies show no metabolic effect. More importantly, though, a lot of studies indicate that it reduces the risk of several types of cancer.
The long-term effects, I believe, are more significant than short-term benefits like weight loss.
It really helps with overall health. if you don’t add sugar to it or honey it is a wonderful beverage for that. it has alot of antioxidents. with a well balenced diet yes It could help you lose weight.
If you are looking for a boost in metabolism, especially around tour waistline, use green tea extract (tincture or capsules).
You would need to drink at least 60 cups of green tea to get the benefits.
The concentrated for has an EGCG of 70% catechins(the cancer protective antioxidants)..
Drink about 3-6 dropperfuls/day…or take a capsule after each large meal.

Over the cneturies, green tea has been purported to have long term health benefits. These benefits have been studied intensively in recent years at various health/medical departments. Well established health benefits include:
•Anti cardiovascular diseases, including stroke
•Anti cancer
•Anti obesity
•Anti inflammation & infection
•Enhance body immune system
•Control blood sugar, benificial to diabetes patients
•Control osteoporosis
•Lower risk of kidney stones
Further teas, especially the least processed ones such as green and white teas, have been found to have the highest levels of natural anti-oxidants (catechins). Their preventive effect against cell damage is believed to be ten times of vitamin E.
There is also good evidence for regular green tea consumption being associated with weight reduction.
Yes you can lose weight drinking green tea. It should not be the only thing you do for losing weight. There are several types of green tea, primarily Sencha and Gyokuro. The difference between the two lies in the way they are grown. Sencha is a higher grade tea grown in full sun; Gyokuro is grown in full shade. This article was very useful to me when deciding to use green tea as part of my diet. I hope you find it useful as well.
