When are you drinking the green tea? I noticed that if I drink it in the morning before breakfast I will get light headed because I haven't eaten anything yet. Caffeine is the same no matter where you get it from, and I don't think it is necessarily bad for you because it speeds up your metabolism :)

that could be what's causing you to feel that way. especially if you aren't used to it. caffeine is ok so long as you don't drink too much. maybe drink one cup a week and see how that does.

Caffine is the same no matter where you get it. However there is a lot less in green tea than coffee, coke, etc. You should get some decaffinated green tea and see if that causes you to get sick. If it does, you know its not the caffine.

Actually, many people don't know that there are different kinds of caffeine. In fact, the caffeine in tea was called theine before people recognized its similarities to the caffeine in coffee, chocolate and other substances.

Tea also contains much less caffeine than coffee. A cup of coffee generally contains about 80 mg of caffeine, while the same amount of green tea usually has 20 mg. Generally speaking, black teas contain approx. 40, oolongs contain approx. 30, and white teas approx. 15 mg.

In addition, the caffeine found in tea is usually more water soluble than that found in coffee, allowing the body to digest and process it faster and not keeping one up all night long.

If you are still worried about the caffeine in tea, you can steep your tea for 30 seconds, discard the water, and re-steep with new water to eliminate most of the caffeine. Teas release almost all of their caffeine initially, while maintaining much of the flavor, so discarding the first batch will cut back.

There are lots of great books on tea if you are looking for more information.
